Monthly (This week's Photo Hunt theme)

This week's Photo Hunt theme is one that had me racking my brains to represent in a nice way because I seem to equate monthly with matters mundane and not so pleasant like rental payments and female periods! And upon typing the word into Google, I found that the search engine was "thinking" in similar terms -- but also did throw up something else -- references to astrology whose Western zodiac is by month (rather than by year like in the Chinese case).

So here's opting to stretch a little this week and put up photos of a Hong Kong landmark -- currently occupied by the Legislative Council (popularly known as LegCo) but built to be the home of the territory's Supreme Court: on one of which can be seen a physical representation of my astrological sign; and the other of which shows demonstrators and protestors out in force in its vicinity earlier this year. And yes, in the process, I get to reveal yet more facets of Hong Kong that people elsewhere in the world don't normally equate with "Asia's World City"! :b

You did a great job with the theme. I didn't even think about astrological signs. I think this was a very hard theme and it's fun seeing how different people are handling it. Happy Weekend.

and don't forget when the Govt eventually moves to its new site at the Tamar (whenever that will be) the Supreme Court Building will once again be used as a law court. Hooray

That is not stretching the theme nearly as much as Jams.

Hi Carver --

I think this week's theme was one for which there were obvious associations but it's a challenge to come up with something interesting. As I go visiting other Photo Hunters though, have seen that people are often going for that little extra interesting thing -- which makes it really fun. :)

Hi Phil (orientalsweetlips) --

Whatever they do, they better not destroy that building. It's so cool to see something so old by Hong Kong standards in that part of town. :)

Hi Colin --

Heheheh... glad you think that! ;b

Hi Criz --

I think both are more bothersome than downright painful -- thank goodness but also touch wood! ;b

Hi Mar --

I have to thank Google for helping me come up with that idea! :D

Great take on the theme. A lot of people are into zodiac signs esp if it brings them luck.

<a href="http://pixelbug.sassymomslife.com/2010/05/monthly-bills/>here's my take</a>

Great job with this very challenging theme. Love the way you stretched it - that building looks so stately and heavy...would have never guessed it was in Hong Kong.

Have a nice weekend.

I drew a complete blank on this one, so you've done incredibly well in my view! You're right about the new facets of Hong Kong. As I'm preparing to set off to visit family, I admit I didn't stretch myself.

Hi jams --

I really had to think for this week... otherwise, wouldn't have had to go and specially snap photos rather than find something in my archive like I usually do! ;b

Hi Gattina --

Am glad that people seem appreciative of my efforts. :)

Hi gengen --

Thanks -- and happy Photo Hunting to you too. :)

Hi Sassy Mom --

Am not so sure about zodiac signs in general but I figure they can be fun if not taken too seriously!

Hi Greyscale Territory --

Thanks abut that's not a street scene per se -- more a crowd scene, actually! ;b

Hi magiceye --

I take it you approve then? ;b

Hi Annie --

Re that building: believe it or not, it's right in the Central District -- surrounded for the most part by really tall skyscrapers. :)

Hi A. --

Happy family visiting and hope you'll be back to Photo Hunting soon.

Hi Manang Kim --

Thanks! :)

Hi Sue --

Thanks -- and you're welcome! :)

Hi Bing --

Definitely re the bills... re the monthly period: guess there are a lot of female Photo Hunters, so it's natural, huh? ;S

It was funny that our initial ideas were the same and we did also turn to google for inspiration. :) Zodiac is perfect for the theme. And you got to tie it in with another chance to show us another Hong Kong scene.

Great job!

Hi Marta --

Yes, indeedy re how we started at the same place but ended up at such different ones ideas-wise! :D

Hi Sherry --

Thanks -- and considering one of your past professions, seems that this week's photographs would particularly appeal to you, huh? :)

Hi Pat --

Thanks and happy weekend to you too. :)

Hi Social Frog --

Thanks!

Hi Scott --

I was stretching... glad people think it's a good, unique take rather than an incorrect one! :)
