I Go - Pete Teo, You Go!

Close to two months ago now, I watched Yasmin Ahmad's Talentime at the Hong Kong International Film Festival. Among other things, I came away thinking that it was blessed with one of the best soundtracks not only of the Yasmin Ahmad movies I've seen thus far but, also, of all the movies I watched at this year's HKIFF.

So imagine my joy upon finding out that there's an official Talentime OST CD. And while I initially preferred Azizat's rendition of I Go that can be heard in the movie, I've since come to prefer the version by composer-singer Pete Teo* that I'm happy to be able to share, courtesy of Youtube and Red Bag Music, among others:-

*While checking out Pete Teo's blog, came across a cool finding: i.e., that he's yet another big fan of the great Brigitte Lin Ching-Hsia... And here's an additional thought: wouldn't it be cool if he were to be inspired to write a song about her sometime? ;b

Pete Teo's a regular in James Lee's movies too :)

Didn't know that Talentime had a soundtrack, am still waiting for the movie's release in Singapore!

Hi Stefan --

I know re Pete Teo in James Lee movies. What I want to know is... how watchable are those movies? I've seen just one James Lee movie ("The Beautiful Washing Machine") and have to say I didn't care for it -- the way that I've yet to care for a single movie by Lee's idol, Tsai Min-Liang. So... :S

And yes, "Talentime" has a soundtrack. Not as easy to find even in Malaysia as one might think but thanks to my mom, I have one. :)

haha, I thought those with Pete in them were more watchable than those without... so you might want to give it a go :D

Hi again Stefan --

Maybe... even though as the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy. Okay, if I had to try one more James Lee movie, which would you recommend??

I'd wanted to say try Histeria, but that's commercial horror, if you're into that kinda stuff....

otherwise, how about his latest starring Singapore actor Sunny Pang, titled Call If You Need Me :)

heard James' next film is also starring Sunny, but it's an action film... gotta wait and see that one, should be in production anytime soon

Hi once more Stefan --

No, I'm not into commercial horror generally. So "Histeria" probably is a no-go. Also, have to admit that I won't go out of my way to watch a James Lee movie and since I doubt that his works will get theatrical releases here in Hong Kong any time soon... ;S
