Have you ever? (meme)
Alejna of Collecting Tokens has done it again: i.e., posted about something that made me want to follow suit. In this case, it's a meme that, in her words, is "a big old checklist of things done in one's life". As she went on to explain, the idea is to go through the list of 150 items and bold the 'done' things. So, while I'm in a revelatory mood, here goes on my part with regards to disclosing what among the list I've already gone and done (and, for good measure, I'm going to italicise the top ten things on the list I haven't done which I'd like to!):-

What is this, Over-achievers Anonymous? Give all us middle-aged slackers a break, will ya? I got enough stuff to keep me depressed, thank you.
Hi leo86 --
Hahaha re your comments! I guess it must be cultural but by the standards of a lot of people I know, many of the listed activities are themselves considered slacker-type ones!!! :D
I'm so glad you played along. It doesn't surprise me that you can check of so many of the items. (And I bet you could make a pretty amazing list of things you've done that aren't this random list.) How great that you have links to posts on quite a few of them, too!
You've seriously never changed a baby's diaper? Huh. You probably didn't do much babysitting. (Not that you're missing out. It's just that I've changed so many diapers in the past couple years that it's a bit alien to me the thought of never having changed a diaper. Of course, by the time Phoebe arrived, I'd gone roughly two decades between diaper changes...)
And you've never made cookies from scratch? I wish we could get together some time, hang out, watch movies, and bake chocolate chip cookies.
I also share your desire to ride in a hot air balloon.
But enough about the things you haven't done, I have some particular curiosity about items 26, 57, 84. (Well, I'm also curious about 68, too. But that seems nosy of me.)
Hi Alejna --
"And I bet you could make a pretty amazing list of things you've done that aren't this random list."
On a related note: must admit to thinking of starting a meme based on exactly that premise... So, if I do, would you be game to participate? ;)
"You've seriously never changed a baby's diaper?"
Yep! And yeah, I tended to do more child- than babysitting... ;b
"And you've never made cookies from scratch?"
Not that I recall -- no!
"I wish we could get together some time, hang out, watch movies, and bake chocolate chip cookies."
Yes, well... maybe some day... :)
"I have some particular curiosity about items 26, 57, 84."
#26: Too many to relate -- but I used to have a phobia of public speaking. So when called to, say, read an essay in front of a class... and this got made worse by a well-meaning's friend trying to help me get over the phobia by asking me to imagine everyone in front of me being naked!!!
#57: The Bionic Woman was my choice of superhero(ine) to pretend to be when I was a child... ;)
#84: Mainly primary school plays and stuff like that. But I also once gave a karate demonstration on an open-air stage at the Royal Australian Air Force base that used to be in Penang! ;b
As for #68: Yeah, well... ;S
I'm going to try it.
Hi Willow --
Give me a holler once your response is up on your blog! :)
Mine's up.
Hi Willow --
Went and took a look earlier today -- interesting, and I'm quite envious that you've seen the Northern Lights! :)
I sometimes catch myself skipping when I am walking and in an even mildly good mood. I think that is important. I haven't led a revolution in a Third World country yet, but it could happen ;)
Hi Vrint --
Thanks for those revelations... I think! ;b
