Old-fashioned (This week's Photo Hunt theme)

Kowloon Wholesale Fruit Market (Gwo Laan),
Yau Ma Tei

Sundry goods shop, Central

The Blue House (tenement housing), Wan Chai

Better late than never? I realize that I'm posting this week's Photo Hunt entry super late; so late, in fact, that it's already Sunday (as opposed to Saturday) over here in Hong Kong. However, figure that it's still Saturday over where tnchick and many other Photo Hunters are. Also, that this week's theme is too good to miss (even in a super busy week like this one has been for me)!

So here's going ahead and providing a couple of glimpses of sections of Asia's World City that contain vestiges of another era: that is, look more old-fashioned than popular stereotypes -- at least over here in Asia, if not 'the West' (certain denizens of which sometimes seems to mistakenly think that it's still The World of Suzie Wong over here) -- of Hong Kong might suggest that it still can possess. Yet, for all this, are still very much in use and increasingly valued as part of the territory's living cultural heritage.

ytsl,

Love the blue building with the blue delivery/whatever truck across the street. Looks like you color coordinated...did you put up a sign 'only blue trucks allowed until I take my photo'-hehe! another great photo.

Hi liza --

You mean the blue building? Why -- you're afraid it'll fall apart sometime soon? ;D

Hi Suzanne and Mica --

Thanks! :)

Hi Gellianne --

Was thinking that far ahead into next week but, yeah, I guess you're right there! ;b

Hi jams o'donnell --

I hope you meant to write 'shots' there... ;)

Hi Mec --

Um, sorry, what's irl??

Hi sbk --

Teeheehee re your blue trucks comment, and glad you like that photo. :)

Those are wonderful photographs for the old fashioned theme. I enjoy seeing what photohunters who live in a different part of the world from me, come up with. It's very interesting.

Better late than never! You always find something interesting there for us no matter what the theme. Have a good week since the weekend is gone for you.

Hi Carver --

Thanks for your comments. Must admit that I sometimes wonder whether my culture-/location-specific photos are too foreign for other Photo Hunters to appreciate so it's nice to get some assurance to the contrary. :)

Hi jmb --

I do try and, as with Carver, am happy that you appreciate my entries and effort! :)

And I'm late commenting :( I had a quick look on something approximating to Saturday and thought perhaps you had given it a miss this week.
Now your pictures are not how I picture Hong Kong at all. In my mind it's all high rise towers, though you have been educating me otherwise :) I would love to have a good look at that shop. Fascinating!

PS Comments on comments:
irl = in real life
Jams o'donnell's comment did make my eyebrows rise, until I thought about it:)
No way are your photos too foreign - that's the beauty of it, to see a different perspective and a different world.

Hi a. --

As I wrote before: Better late than never! And even more so as your comments are great, including your explaining to me what the previously mysterious IRL stands for! :)
