Guess and Your favorite mug or cup (This week's Photo Hunt themes)

In view of one of last week's Photo Hunt themes being "At home", I find it amusingly appropriate that the reason why I didn't take part in Sandi's and Gattina's Photo Hunts last Saturday was that I was not at home... and, in fact, vacationing once more in Japan!

At the same time, the photos at the top of this entry could qualify for that theme since they all were taken at home -- and are, indeed, of mugs that I regularly drink from.  But guess which is my favorite mug in this collection?

Those of you who know of my Hello Kitty adoration (via blog posts such as this one) would probably guess that it'd be one of the Hello Kitty mugs in my possession.  But more regular and long time readers will know that my first Sanrio love actually was Winkipinki, a brown cat with eyebrows (that I think give her a somewhat melancholy look) with a liking for plaid along with flowers -- whose line, sadly, was discontinued some years ago by the company.

Because of their rarity, I truly treasure every Winkipinki (AKA Winki Pinki) sighting -- and item with her visage on it that I own.  This includes the Winkipinki mug that my good friend, sbk (of Pictures, Thoughts and Comments), presented to me when we rendezvoused in Okinawa last year -- and is the favorite of my mugs.  And to further give you an idea of my Winkipinki love: Her visage it is that can be seen on the wallpaper of my home computer -- and yes, I really do find the very act of looking at her face to be truly comforting and relaxing! :)

Hi ytsl,

Thank you for your kind words. Because of you, and I never would have predicted this, I have become a Hello Kitty fan too. On a recent visit my daughter commented on how much Hello Kitty I have collected :-)

Hi sarah sbk --

Awww re your having become a Hello Kitty fan too. I think it's easy to be in Asia -- or with you who visits Japan regularly -- because the Hello Kitty items here aren't always baby pink and targeted for little girls the way they seem to be in non-Chinatown US and Europe. :)

P.S. to sarah sbk --

I'm drinking coffee from my Winkipinki mug this morning! ;b

Hi Bing --

That square-ish mug is a tie-in with the Robot-K game. And before you ask: ya, I think Hello Kitty is very cute in Robot-K mode! ;b
