Different (This week's Photo Hunt theme)

This week's Photo Hunt theme opens itself to so many different possible interpretations and subject matter. After mulling it over for a time, I decided to post a few photographs that are different from any of the hundreds of snaps that I've hitherto put up on this blog by virtue of my not being on solid ground when I took them.

Instead, I took these photos while on board a couple of different planes: more specifically, the flights that first took me from Penang -- where I was born, and my parents continue to reside -- to Kuala Lumpur -- Malaysia's capital city -- and then from Kuala Lumpur back to Hong Kong -- where I currently live and work, and enjoy life! -- earlier this year. And should you wonder, the land that you see in a couple of the pictures is Malaysia's and, I suppose, so is the air space that the clouds in the other pictures are floating within! ;b

All countries look the same from the air. Well Malaysia looks a little like Holland from the air on those pictures of yours.
Nice entry!
Have a good weekend.

Interesting interpretation of different. The clouds in the third photo from the top are very different from most pictures I've seen of clouds.

Excellent shots! I love the view from an airplane window seat!

Hi Carin --

Haha, actually, Malaysia has a lot of mountains and hills. It's just that, I guess, there weren't too many in the pictures I took of it from the air! ;D

Hi sbk --

Interesting comment. Maybe those clouds look different because not that many photos of clouds that you've seen have been taken from the air?

Hi jc --

Thanks! And me too re loving the view from airplane window seats. :)

Photographs from the air are so lovely. I like your interpretation of different, too. Thanks for stopping by the creek and have a wonderful weekend.

I am disappointed, lol ! The pictures could have been taken above Belgium ! It looks so similar !

Hi Carver --

Thanks for your comments and visiting once again! :)

Hi Mar --

Thanks and happy weekend to you too! :)

Hi Patricia --

You're welcome and thanks for the reciprocal visit. :)

Hi Gattina --

First Holland, now Belgium! The funny thing is that when visiting a lot of other countries, found them to look much less green than Malaysia. I could be wrong but on that score alone... ;b

I think what makes the cloud photo different has to do with the two distinct cloud formations. The upper smaller stratified cloud bank above the lower clouds which go across the whole photo isn't like any cloud formation I've seen from plane windows. Very cool photo.

I love the last two pictures, particularly the first of those - it's really different!

Hi again sbk --

Agree with you and, well, that's why I was moved to take that picture! :b

Hi Dragonstar --

Looks like picture number 3 has the most fans thus far! :b

Hi Sarge Charlie --

Thanks, and yours too! :)

Its funny that when we're in the different skies, we always have the same habit of taking pictures inside the plane...hehe Thanks for sharing the photos.

Have a good weekend!

I've finally managed to make the rounds commenting! Blogger has a lot to answer for :(

Magnificent pictures, and as you say, different from your usual ones. I have never yet been successful in taking photos from a plane.

I enjoy taking photographs from the sky. They always make me feel as if I am in heaven. haha (although I have not been there. yet)

Hi jmb --

It's Monday now as I write this. Turns out I had quite the weekend. Great classical music concert on Saturday and the mother of all hikes (that had me terrified at times during it and now so very exhausted post it)!!! ;S

Hi Pearl --

Hey, so maybe when I'm next on a plane and I see another person taking pics, it might turn out to be you... ;b

Hi Joy and SnoopytheGoon --

Thanks and hope you had a nice weekend too. :)

Hi jams o'donnell --

Aisle seats are preferable on long flights but on shorter ones or ones to places I've not been before, it's got to be a window seat for me. :)

Hi alpha --

Thanks and you're welcome! :)

Hi a. --

Yes, Blogger and Google in general appear to be having problems lately. And so, too, has hotmail! :(

How come you've not been successful taking photos from a plane? Did you not put your lens close enough to the window?

Hi Pelfy --

You think you're in heaven. I used to imagine that the clouds housed heaven... that is, when I wasn't imagining that they were made of cotton wool or candy floss! ;b

Like the 3rd photo of the clouds. Today I saw one that looked like a feather, out of all the other ones that didn't look distinguishable in any way. Alas, no camera with me.

I often sit to the rear of planes too. ;P

YTSL said...

Hi Willow --

Actually, I wasn't near the rear of the plane when I took that photo! Also, generally don't care where I sit on a plane though in terms of back, middle or front... ;)

Sorry for my late comment.
Pretty cool snap from the airplane window shield, for next time i will do the same like you.The problem is once i on plane,i fell sleep immediately, hehe, and when i woke up,they call for leaving, too bad.
Yep,Malaysia a beutiful place,is just the heat is overwhelm, sweat and sweat,non-stop while walking on street.
I might wonder any possibility that we can exchange link??I'll be thankful!!
and one more question, you now hk citizenn?

YTSL said...

Hi Siawyi --

Don't worry about being late and thanks for visiting at last! ;)

Re exchanging links: I think we ought to know each other's blogs better before we contemplate doing so, okay?

And re your last question: One can't be a Hong Kong citizen since Hong Kong isn't a country (but, rather, a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China). But, yes, I'm a Hong Kong resident for now. :)
