I'm one of those people who believes that one should have breakfast to start off your day. At the same time though, on week days, my breakfast tends to be on the simple or spartan side -- e.g., on warmer days, I regularly opt for fruit and a cup of coffee; on cooler days, oatmeal and a cup of coffee -- while on weekends, I tend to forego that meal and move straight to brunch instead. So, I decided, it wouldn't be interesting at all to photograph what my breakfast(s).
Rather, what I've got in this Photo Hunt entry are a photo with advertisements at the top for a major dim sum dish -- and since dim sum is something that people (with plenty of leisure time) like to have for breakfast as well as lunch and afternoon tea -- and a breakfast drink imported all the way from the USA and another photo I'm actually quite proud of because I think it makes a simple fried egg, ham and cheese on toast look quite beautiful... ;)
Re that second photo: I took it when I was over in Macau on a food article assignment. And while I love food, have to say that I found that assignment really grueling as I had limited time to walk around Macau, check out food places *and* eat at more than a few of them. So much so that while the four-page magazine article that ensued was one that actually got praise from people, it was the last food article I was willing to write for the magazine I then was working for! ;S

Good choice for this week's theme - makes me hungry actually. :) Have a good weekend. :)
I am a breakfast eater so I am happy with this theme this week.
I always make it a point to have breakfast because it gives me the energy I need to face the day.
I love dimsum but not usually for breakfast. That toast combination looks yummy.
I'll love to have Dim Sum on weekends for breakfast!! :P
I love your rich looking breakfast. :)

Lovely choice for the week's entry and theme. Trust me I don't always eat the way I did this morning either.
Happy hunting and happy weekend:-)
I can't face Breakfast other than s frugal one and never an egg.
Nothing worse thanhaving to eat when you don't want to.
Hi Leslie --
Thanks and I share your feelings re getting hungry upon seeing some people's photos this week! ;b
Hi Photo Cache --
Good for you! :)
Hi Heart of Rachel --
That toast combo *was* yummy -- ate it shortly after I took that photo! ;b
Hi Napaboaniya --
I wish I could do the same more often but it's often difficult to get other people to want to do that and since dimsum is best with at least one other person... :S
Hi Criz Lai --
Actually, have to admit that it was my lunch rather than breakfast! ;D
Hi Horsoon --
That was the idea! ;b
Hi Mar --
Thanks for appreciating -- in different ways -- both my photos. :)
Hi Ellen --
Dim sum?
Hi Shinade --
I'm not surprised after seeing your photos of your breakfast spread! ;b
Hi Aileni --
Actually, when I'm back on holiday in Penang (my home state), I eat a pretty substantial breakfast -- often some kind of noodle dish -- so much so that I end up skipping lunch afterwards!
Nice take on the theme. I wish I could face breakfasts. Happy weekend
Mmmm....great shots!
Happy Weekend.
breakfast is my heaviest meal of the day. i dont limit myself and getting heavier by the day hahahahaha
I haven't had breakfast yet this morning and that second photo looks yummy! Thanks for stopping by the creek to comment on the breakfast there. Did you take an apple with you?
I love dimsum so much I can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!
How's your weekend, so far?
Sreisaat Adventures
Great post for the theme and I also enjoyed your article that was linked. I can see how that would be hard to try and walk around and eat at a lot of different places in a short amount of time. I love your photograph of the egg on ham and toast. I think brunch is the best time to eat. I'm not usually up for a big breakfast but if I can fit in brunch that's the best for me.
Great choice for the theme! All these entries are making me hungry though, and I'm not normally a breakfast person lol!
My Photo hunt entry is here
Thank you for stopping by! :)
I love my breakfast and am like you in terms of what I normally eat. Great photos!
Same here, I am a breakfast person too. I can't start my day properly without it.
I am a breakfast person as well:) Nice photos!
Now I need to go eat and swim.. Yyummy! I think I'll be dreaming of this in a bit.
the egg and ham combo looks delicious, though I would go for dim sum!
That looks absolutely delicious! I could eat it now!
ytsl,
The fried egg looks so yummy!! I for one think you have a talent for writing food articles.
Great choise.
I would love to try the torture of an assignment like that!:-)
Nice choices for the theme - Stop by and visit if you get the chance:

You really did make egg, ham and toast look beautiful, and that is exactly how I like my eggs... sunny side up! Of course I've had to learn to like them just as well over easy.
Dimsum sounds like a hit, too!
Hi jams o'donnell --
My thing is that I wish I had more time for leisurely breakfasts... ;S
Hi Pat --
Thanks! :)
Hi Bengbeng --
The way things have worked out, in Hong Kong, lunch is my heaviest meal of the day...
Hi Patricia --
You know -- I wanted too but left all the apples for you guys instead! ;)
Hi Sriesaat --
Wow, you REALLY do love dim sum! ;b
The weekend's been not too bad so far, thanks. :)
Hi Carver --
Am glad you enjoyed the linked article as well as the Photo Hunt entry -- and that you can understand how the job was a difficult one! :)
Hi Sue --
Don't know if you noticed but some of the food (in this entry but also other Photo Hunters') can be eaten at times other than breakfast... ;b
Hi Lilly's Life --
Interesting that our breakfasts can be similiar when we live on different continents! :)
Hi Lynn --
At the very least, I need a coffee to start off my day properly... ;)
Hi Yen --
Cool and thanks! :)
Hi Expat Traveler --
Eat I'm happy to do but swim? I'll pass re the swimming bit! ;b
Hi Lissa --
Both are good options -- just not at the same time! ;b
Hi Dragonstar --
Well... guess you could make the toast thingy yourself, right? :)
Hi sbk --
Thanks but, all the same, I rather content myself with writing about food just on this blog! ;)
Hi Brita --
Thanks! :)
Hi RJ Flamingo --
That's what some of my friends told me: but, then, they weren't effectively force fed ("try this", "try that", etc.) by restaurant folks and didn't have such as caffeine induced insomnia at 3 in the morning due to two different eateries insisting that one try their special coffee as an after dinner meal!!!
Hi JC --
I like eggs in different ways -- including scrambled, half-boiled, boiled, poached... Actually eggs are a great food, period, I reckon! :)
I occasionally have eggs for lunch.
Thanks for stopping by mine :)
As you said, we do the same, only now since we are both retired we have a "brunch" (breakfast/lunch) at 12.30, the main meal we have at 7 pm.
Never tried dim sum for breakfast or any meal. But I'd like to! Great choice for The Hunt
Hi Teena --
Eggs are good pretty much any time of the day, I reckon! ;b
Hi Gattina --
Sounds like your brunches aren't too big. OTOH, my tend to be! :D
Hi Pastormac's Ann --
Hope you'll get to try -- and enjoy -- dim sum some day soon. :)
to see that dimsum in the early morning could get one long for a good breakfast:) i haven't tried dimsum for breakfast yet though.
Still it's a pretty picture!
As a Chinese, I prefer dimsum for breakfast. :)
I was in HK Disneyland for a unique breakfast.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day...after having starved oneself through the night. heheh. Toast with butter and jam is heavenly sometimes.
That ad says they have the world's best shrimp dumpling. I doubt that.
Dim sum for breakfast, what an interesting choice... Great shots.
Thanks for stopping by.
Very nice breakfast shot! On working days I don't take breakfast - I'm telling myself I don't have the time - but on weekends I do! :)
Hi Marites --
Hope you give dim sum for breakfast a go some time... and enjoy doing so! :)
Hi Jientje --
Thanks!
Hi East Coast Life --
If truth be told, I find dim sum on the heavy side; so prefer it for brunch or lunch rather than breakfast... ;S
Hi Willow --
Agree that toast with butter and jam can be heavenly... even more so, to my mind, if it's toast with marmalade or toast with peanut butter together with jam! :b
Hi laicheukpan --
Well, maybe you'll have to come back to Hong Kong to try it and see! ;b
Hi Brine Queen --
Thanks and you're welcome! :)
Hi Sabine --
You don't even have coffee? Wow... have to say that I definitely need a cup of coffee in order to properly wake up! ;b
Apologies for missing you last week. I love the shots, especially of the dim sum advertising. The fried egg has my mouth watering...
Hi A. --
Thanks for the visit. Better late than never after all! ;)
