Metal (This week's Photo Hunt theme)

I get the feeling that this is one of those Photo Hunts that is going to yield a diverse bunch of photos. This since metal, like plastic, is one of those constituent ingredients that pretty much is everywhere we look in those parts of the world where humans live, work and play.

For my part, rather than go out and take new photos, I delved once again into my now quite sizable photo archive for this week's contributions. More specifically, here are two photos -- one a close-up; another of it silhouetted against a sunny blue sky -- of the world's largest ferris wheel located in the Tempozan District of Osaka, Japan (that also is home to the wonderful Osaka Aquarium). (And should anyone wonder: of course, I went on it and yes, it was indeed a cool ride!). :b

Nice pics! Never been into one of those huge ferris wheel yet. We have one here in Malaysia but I never made it a point to visit.

You are a very brave woman YTSL to go on that thing.
Indeed it seems there are so many different photos to fit this theme and it is quite interesting.
Have a good weekend.

OMG! I love ferris wheels - to look at, not ride (fear of heights and all that), and these are great shots!

I had no idea what to do with this week's theme, so I'm afraid I did stretch it a bit:

Hi Leslie --

So... do my ferris wheel photos make you want to go on one again? ;b

Hi ancient one --

Oh dear re a ferris wheel having scared you. Love them, not least because of the often cool views one gets when riding them!

Hi Fishman --

Have been on ferris wheels in Malaysia -- none even half as big as the one in Osaka though!

Hi JennyL --

Oh dear indeed! ;(

Hi Carver --

Thanks, definitely had fun shooting the ferris wheels from different angles, depths, etc. :)

Hi Criz Lai --

There must be at least one ferris wheel left in Malaysia, surely!

Hi gen/entry --

Thanks and you too! :)

Hi Bengbeng --

I guess I've been away from Malaysia too long: didn't know there was a ferris wheel called the Eye of Malaysia!

Hi jmb --

Didn't think I was brave but know (now) that there are quite a few people scared by ferris wheels!

Hi RJ Flamingo --

Ferris wheels are indeed cool to look at. But, really, often times, the views they afford can be just as good, if not better! ;b

Great pictures. I have been on a few of those. We are getting one in Adelaide for a month next year. It is 45 metres high and will be in the centre of town.

I love riding one! :D Nice entries this week indeed!

Good shots! Love the perspective of that first one...

I used to be really brave and ride ferris wheels but haven't done that for quite some time. Not as high as this one, nope.

Happy weekend!

Wow! Wonderful photos. Looks more like art than just a ride.

Fun, summertime memories... when I was a youngster it was the most boring ride, lol, I've grown to appreciate it ;-)

Anonymous said...

Oooo...a bit too high for me!!

Happy Weekend.

Ferris wheels are awesome structures!
Thanks for stopping by my blog too.

Wow! World's largest ferries wheel. Fantastic. Anyway, I posted one mini ferries wheel in my photohunt post. It is only 60m high with 42 gondola. *teeheehee* yes, it is that mini (=

I love both those shots!

These are nice shots and fit the theme very well. I like the creativity you've shown.

I'd entirely forgotten until I read it elsewhere, we had metal as a theme last March. That is a fantastic looking ferris wheel. I could just about contemplate taking a ride if it's sedate in its movement like the London Eye.

Rebecca Mecomber said...

Great photo! I haven't seen a real ferris wheel in many moons.

I did Photo Hunt today, too. I hope you get a chance to visit and leave your link. :)

The kind of moving metal that bring great sights to us when on-board :)

Hi Marites --

Upon Googling, have found other claimants to that title but until I see them in the flesh, I'm happy to believe that the Osaka ferris wheel is indeed the world's largest! :)

Hi jams o'donnell --

If it's any consolation: I still think the London Eye would be worth riding though. ;)

Hi Napaboaniya (x 2) --

You said it! :b

Hi Aileni --

It is. I think I've posted some on the blog (do an Osaka search if interested) but not as many as I perhaps should!

Hi Hootin' Anni --

Thanks, and have gone and paid my return visit. :)

Hi Colin Campbell --

Bet you're going to be riding on that Adelaide ferris wheel once it gets installed! ;)

Hi Yen --

Cool and thanks! :)

Hi June --

Thanks! :)

Hi Lynn --

It's interesting for me to read how many people are afraid of going up ferris wheels. Always thought they were among the tamer rides compared to such as -- my favorite -- rollercoasters! ;b

Hi Annie --

Thanks for your very complimentary remarks! :)

Hi JC --

I remember getting (temporarily) stuck up a ferris wheel once when I was a kid -- I think that helped to ensure that it never was all that boring a ride for me... ;D

Hi Pat --

Think: High = great views! ;b

Hi Dianne --

Agreed and you're welcome! :)

Hi Pelfy --

Was the ferris wheel you photographed the KL Eye?

Hi Dragonstar --

Am glad you do! :)

Hi tarheelrambler --

Thank you. :)

Hi a. --

Yeah, the "metal" theme sounded familiar but I think most of us managed to come up with new perspectives. So, all good. :)

Hi Mrs Mecomber --

Thanks and yup, did go visit. :)

Hi SabineM --

Re the London Eye: The last time I went to London, it wasn't yet built!!! :O

Hi Liz --

Yes it is! :D

Hi Shinade --

Diversity's great, ain't it? ;b

Horsoon said...
