Walking (addendum)

Even in Hong Kong, it's not every day
that one sees
a lion dance troupe's members
casually strolling in front of a tram

Rather it's only on Tam Kung's Birthday that
lion, dragon and unicorn dancers
have the
right of way on the streets along with such as trams!

Attention visiting Photo Hunters: this is not my Photo Hunt entry for this week. (For that, look one entry below.) Rather, I just spent the greater part of this beautifully sunny afternoon checking out this year's edition of the Tam Kung's Birthday parade over in Shau Kei Wan and can't resist sharing a couple of walking-themed photos taken while attending it. Like them? Hope so! :)

Two photo hunt entries this week. Both different and showing off the variety in the place you now call home.

Happy weekend YTSL.

Hi Napaboaniya --

Seeing lion and dragon dances on the round is becoming fairly normal (for this time of the year). Seeing them stopping trams though... ;b

Hi Bengbeng --

From your Photo Hunt entry for this week, gather that you're quite the fan of festivals; so can see why you like this walking entry more than the original one. :)

I love the colours in these photos, and the way the traffic is being held up! Two great posts.

Hi again Dragonstar --

Thanks -- and yeah, I must admit that I found myself grinning when seeing the trams having to stop for the lions and dragons... ;b

Hi Wra5 --

Gracias! :)

What a great way to show the continuing dichotomy of Hong Kong. We know it as a mega-megalopolis that has been astride the world of commerce and finance for decades, a place that speeds the flow dollars/euros/yen around the world and where serious business is done by serious men and women 24 hours a day.

And it is still a place where someone might be late for a meeting after being held up in traffic by a lion dance troupe!

No wonder people love Hong Kong--or at least people like me love the idea of Hong Kong. The city really comes through in your pictures and prose.

Hi ewaffle --

It seems that a romanticized picture of Hong Kong gets transmitted through my photos and prose. If so, I must admit my guilt in continuing to often see Hong Kong through rose-colored -- or should it be cinematic? -- lenses. ;b
