Dona Nobis Pacem = Latin for "Grant Us Peace". Thanks go to Mimi Lenox for being the main person behind the Blogblast for Peace initiative.
And for good measure, here are seven of my favorite songs of peace (in no particular order; please click the titles to read their lyrics):-
- Give Peace a Chance by The Beatles
- Imagine by John Lennon
- Leningrad by Billy Joel
- Russians by Sting
- Blowin' in the Wind by Bob Dylan
- Peace, Love and Understanding by Elvis Costello
- Heaven's Here On Earth by Tracy Chapman

trivia tidbit here: What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding was written by Nick Lowe, not Elvis Costello although he had the big UK hit with it.
Worth mentioning since the lyrics fit Costello perfectly and he quite possibly the best rock lyricist since Lennon/McCartney.
(you can tell when I'm bored at work when I've got time to point out this kind of stuff)
Beautiful globe and great songs!
My peace globe is posted too :)
Beautiful Peace Globe and an excellent list of songs. I believe I used a couple of the same ones on my post. I'm up!
Peace!
There are several "Peace" songs up for my contribution to the theme.
No one said it better than Mr Lennon.

Peace
"Imagine" is one of my favorite songs of all time. I get choked up every time I listen to the lyrics. (You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...)
Peace.
I love that you added these songs in your post. I titled today's post as "All We Are Saying" referencing Lenon's song. Stop by if time permits.
One of my favorite peace songs is "Imagine"!
Beautiful globe!! Peace!

Hi Glenn --
Tee hee hee and it's cool to be able to know this kind of trivia and share it! Re the Elvis Costello reference I made: He introduced me to the song and is the only singer of it I've heard. So... :)
Hi Mar and dixiechick --
Thanks and will go check out your peace globes when time permits. (Not immediately though as it's getting close to my bedtime over here as I write!)
Hi Jamie --
Seems like there are a lot of like-minded folks about (and/or a few popular peace songs)... ;)
Hi finny and buddy --
Yeah, John Lennon sure did give us quite a few musical gems. Another of his songs that's a big favorite of mine is "Woman".
Hi jh (jeter of jeter and mickey?) --
Exactly! :)
Hi annelisa --
Thanks and yeah, writing about the songs -- and reading their lyrics -- did make me want to listen to them once again too. :)
Hi kimo & sabi --
...and also with you. :)

Hi Alejna --
"...I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one." :)
Hi dayngr --
It was the least I could do -- i.e., point to the existence of voices and writers of lyrics that already say so much of what I want to say, and wish I could write as eloquently.
Hi Jessica the Rock Chick --
Imagine that... ;b
Grant Us Peace "All You Need Is Love"
Peace to you, great globe.
Thank you for your entry. It's really great so many bloggers do it for peace. My post do expose The Nobel Peace Center - year around for peace.
Who else became known for: Blowing in the Wind? May be the version best known?
May the warmth and spirit of this Peace Globe Day bring us all peace. You’re globe is beautiful.

Hi Bond --
Reckon that some empathy and understanding would be good too... :b
Hi Akelamalu --
Thanks and peace back!
Hi TorAa --
From the Wikipedia entry for "Blowin' in the Wind":-
It has been covered by hundreds of artists. A few of the better-known acts who have done so are folk music trio Peter, Paul and Mary (who actually released their version — which lacks the harmonica solos after each verse — a few months before Dylan's), country guitar virtuoso Chet Atkins, folk chanteuse Judy Collins, soul singer Sam Cooke, blues belter Etta James, Neil Young (with air raid sound effects), Marlene Dietrich, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder (whose version became a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966), John Fogerty, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, and was performed by Jenny in the award-winning movie Forrest Gump (sung by Joan Baez), and was lampooned in Me, Myself And Irene. Most recently, in 2005 Dolly Parton recorded the song with the bluegrass trio Nickel Creek.
