Hello again, Hello Kitty!

My latest Hello Kitty plush
and the box she came in

You know it's summer in Hong Kong when it gets seriously hot and humid... and McDonald's runs yet another Hello Kitty promotion. (Maybe it's just coincidence but, seriously now, McDonald's has had a Hello Kitty promotion each summer since I've moved to Hong Kong!!!)

And although I actually don't much like to eat at McDonald's here, I find that I can't resist those way too cute Hello Kittys. So... just one day after learning about the promotion, here's my first -- and probably not last (since I find myself coveting the white-coated Dr Kitty!) -- of the Kittylab Hello Kittys... which, more than by the way, really is verrrrrry soft to the touch as well as kawaii to look at. ;S

Hi fallingstones --

Am surprised as well as think it's cool that you think so! :)

Hi sbk --

Yes -- so much so that I'm keeping the Hello Kitty in the box (for protection and display)! :)

How come they don't sell this over here. People here don't like cute things I guess. But the Transformer are all out of stock instead. BTW, if you check out wikipedia on Stephen Chow and Kitty Zhang, photos are provided by me :)

Hi Kit --

They don't have Hello Kitty promotions at McDonald's in Malaysia? Was wondering about that since I never noticed their doing so... although some outlets do/did have Hello Kittys on display behind glass!

And wow - you contributed to Wikipedia or did someone come across your photos??

When are you going to have to move out of your apt because there will only be room for all your Hello Kitty possessions!

This is a great promotion. What do you have to buy to get a doll? A Happy meal?

Hi Brian --

Well, *most* of my Hello Kittys are not all that big. So I think I'm okay in terms of space for a while yet! :D

Hi Willow --

My original impression was that you have to buy HK$20 worth of food (and/or drinks) and then pay an extra HK$20 for a Hello Kitty plush but a friend just told me all you need to do is just buy something from McDonalds and pay HK$20 on top of that for a Hello Kitty (though, alas, not the Dr Kitty -- that comes only with a full set of other Hello Kitty stuff!!!).

hi ytsl,

hehe....if/when your Hello Kitty collection begins to overtake your apartment you can always turn it into a mini museum and open it to the public on Sunday afternoons....

Have you collected more of these take-out kittys?

Hi Willow --

A friend gave me a Devil Hello Kitty (which actually is much cuter than it sounds) and I got another original Hello Kitty (for my mother -- at her request). Was hoping to get the Strawberry Hello Kitty for my sister this evening but, unfortunately, the McDonald's I went to has run out of them! :S
